Alabama Crimson Tide vs Texas Longhorns Predictions & Picks

Alabama Crimson Tide vs Texas Longhorns Predictions

Key Stat: Alabama Crimson Tide were brilliant both offensively and defensively in Week 1

Tip Reasoning

  • The Crimson Tide kept Utah State Aggies scoreless in the 55-0 thumping on the opening day
  • Quarterback Bryce Young had five passing touchdowns on the occasion
  • Young was also his team’s best rusher with 100 rushing yards on five carries

Both Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns opened the new season with comprehensive victories. The Crimson Tide kept Utah State Aggies scoreless in the 55-0 victory last weekend. They will be massive favorites to maintain the perfect record after Week 2 as well but the job should be somewhat tougher against the Longhorns. Nevertheless, the sportsbooks still see the visitors as the 20.5 points favorites. Can they justify the tag and cover the spread once again this time around?

It is very hard to find a fault for the Crimson Tide’s opening round display. They were brilliant at both ends. Quarterback Bryce Young stole the show, throwing the ball for as many as five touchdowns on the occasion. Young was at the same time his team’s best rusher in the game, conquering 100 yards on five carries. If he can repeat such an explosive overall performance against the Longhorns, the comprehensive away win should not come in question here. We will go with Alabama Crimson Tide to win in -20.5 spread at the +100 odds.

Tip Reasoning

Key Stat: Texas’ quarterback Quinn Ewers threw just two touchdowns and one interception in the last weekend’s win over the Warhawks

  • Ewers could struggle very much to get his offense going here against a much more compact defensive line
  • We can hardly see the Longhorns scoring multiple  touchdowns on Saturday
  • The value is with the Under here

Although both Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns showed fantastic offensive displays last weekend, we lean much more towards the Under pick for this game. After all, both outings were decent defensively as well last time out, especially the Crimson Tide who did not concede a single point in the drubbing of the Aggies. The Longhorns demolished UL Monroe Warhawks 46-10 in Week 1 but we have to say that quarterback Quinn Ewers did not impress very much, throwing two touchdowns and one interception against a much weaker side than the one he is about to face this weekend. The only question is whether Texas can offer a reasonable defensive performance against Bryce Young and company. Anyways, we find this O/U line a big too high and we will go with the Under 65 points pick at the -104 odds.
