History Of Sports Betting in Wyoming

Sports betting has been live since Gov Mark Gordon signed HB133 into law. Despite that, sportsbooks have only gone live since September 1st, with both BetMGM and DraftKings, who launched their operations in the Cowboy state in October. FanDuel also launched in the Cowboy state since, on March 10th. Although the law allows for both online and retail sportsbooks in the state, there are only online sportsbooks available, as no retail sportsbooks are currently operating. However, the expectation is to see retail sports betting launch in the state pretty soon.

FanDuel has been the last sports betting site to launch in WY, and it won’t be surprising to see a few more added to the list.

Wyoming Sports Betting History

Sports betting has been illegal in Wyoming until recently, with the online sports betting bill that failed in the House of Representatives at the beginning of 2020. However, after a period of planning and consultations, in March 2021 things started to finally move positively for sports betting in Wyoming, as the senate voted in favor of a bill to allow sports betting in the Cowboy state. Gov. Mark Gordon signed this just a few weeks later in April. On the back of this, WGC has established rules to acquire the license to operate sports betting in the state. DraftKings and BetMGM met these requirements and were allowed to launch on September 1st, followed by FanDuel, who made the debut here on March 10th 2022.
