Cleveland Browns vs. Carolina Panthers Predictions
Key Stat: The Browns are playing without their biggest weapon
- They practiced the whole offseason with Watson but Brissett starts on Sunday
- Brissett is 14-23 as a starter
- Mayfield knows the Browns’ defense like the palm of his hand
Sometimes you need to take the easy route on bets and, to start the season, this is what we’re going to do with this game – that should probably be awful to watch, but give us some nice bets. Jacoby Brissett starts for the Browns on Sunday and he’s really bad, but perhaps the worst part is that they practiced the whole offseason with Deshaun Watson as the starter but had to turn the job away to Brissett while Watson is suspended.
For the Panthers, they are back with their main offensive weapon in Christian McCaffrey but they also have a quarterback that, while far from elite, can give them a competent job on Sundays – and, perhaps more importantly, Mayfield was traded from the Browns, so he knows everything about their defense having practiced against them his whole career. I’m confident that the Panthers will pull off an ugly win to start the season, but hey, a win is a win, right?
Key Stat: Mayfield vs. Brissett screams for an ugly game
- Brissett will be throwing to an weak receivers corp
- The Browns’ defense can take away the ball from the Panthers with some ease
- The Panthers’ offensive line will not give much time to Mayfield
With the Over/Under set at 42 points, I’m confident that we’ll see the Under hitting with ease here because neither of these teams will have much success exploring the deep parts of the field. With Jacoby Brissett going against Baker Mayfield, we can’t expect an exciting game here, and running the ball will be the key to success for both of these teams. None of them should score more than 24 points but we’re just being nice here. Hit the under.
