We got more action in MLB on Monday night and the next game we will look at is the New York Mets visiting the Milwaukee Brewers. The Mets are trying to hold off the Atlanta Braves for first place in the NL East, as they have a slim one-game lead over them. Meanwhile, the Brewers have fallen back and lost the Nl Central division to the St. Louis Cardinals, as they are eight games back going into tonight’s game.

The starters for tonight’s game will be Max Sherzer for the Mets against Corbin Burnes for the Brewers. Both pitchers have had really good seasons, as Sherzer is 9-4 with a 2.26 ERA, while Burnes is 10-7 with a 2.97 ERA on the year. Sherzer is a talented veteran that has pitched in a lot of big games, so he doesn’t shy away from the moment. He knows if the Mets are going to win their division, they need to win every game they can with only two weeks left.

The Mets are the slight favorite in this game, but it is really even because of the talent on the mound for both clubs. The Mets rebounded back nicely from their poor series with the Cubs to sweep the Pirates in a four-game series this past weekend. We will take the Mets to win and cover the -1 run spread for the game.

Tip Reasoning

Key Stat: Mets have scored 695 runs this season

  • New York is slugging .409 as a team this season
  • Pete Alonso leads the team in home runs and RBIs
  • Jeff McNeil leads the Mets in batting average

Our second bet of this game will be the Over/Under. Currently, the Over/Under is sitting at 6.5 runs, which is low for an MLB game. However, it does make sense why it’s so low when you look at the two starting pitchers for Monday night’s game. It could be hard for either team to muster up a bunch of hits together to come up with 1 or 2 big innings. We don’t think Sherzer will have a problem with the Brewers lineup and should be able to limit them to a run or two. However, we think the Mets lineup will be ready for this game, as they see the postseason right around the corner. We think they come out and get runs early against Burnes. We will take the Over 6.5 runs for Monday night’s game.
