Atlanta Braves ML (-152)

As the anticipated second game of the Major League Baseball (MLB) series unfolds at Tropicana Field this Saturday, the Atlanta Braves and the Tampa Bay Rays go head-to-head once again. The inaugural game was a nail-biter, with the Braves clinching a narrow victory, setting the stage for an exciting weekend series.

The Braves have been on a winning streak, having secured two victories in their three-game series against the Guardians. Their game against the Rays on Friday saw the Braves score both runs in the fourth inning, leading to a 2-1 triumph. Starting pitcher Charlie Morton stood out with a remarkable performance, pitching 6.1 innings, giving up only one run on four hits and two walks.

The Braves are counting on Spencer Strider, their star player, for Saturday’s game. Strider has a stellar record this year with 10 wins in 17 starts and an impressive 3.66 ERA. His 155 strikeouts over 98.1 innings demonstrate his skill and dominance on the mound. Given his 22-7 career record and 3.10 ERA across 50 games (37 starts), Strider might well prove to be a deciding factor for Atlanta.

On the contrary, the Rays had a less than stellar week, losing their series against the Phillies. Although they managed to out-hit the Braves 6-2 on Friday, they couldn’t translate these hits into runs. Saturday’s game will feature Taj Bradley as the Rays’ starting pitcher. Despite having a 5-4 record with a slightly alarming 5.27 ERA and 76 strikeouts over 56.1 innings in his first twelve career starts this year, he faces a significant challenge in the form of the Braves.

Even though the Rays have an impressive home game record, Saturday’s game might favor Atlanta, owing to Strider’s recent form and Bradley’s struggles. Although the Braves’ batting wasn’t exceptional on Friday, with Sean Murphy’s home run being a highlight, their consistent pitching might give them an advantage in this tight series.

Ronald Acuna Jr. 2+ bases (-115)

Atlanta’s Ronald Acuna Jr. is a major factor in the Braves’ potent offense this season. They set a new record for most home runs before an All-Star break with 167, and Acuna Jr., leading the NL MVP race, played a significant part in this achievement. He’s going into Saturday with a .333 average and 21 home runs. He’s maintained an impressive .371 average and a .710 slugging percentage in his last 15 games.

Up against Bradley and his penchant for fastballs, Acuna Jr., with a .376 average, .367 xBA, 59.5% hard-hit rate, and a stunning 12 Run Value against fastballs, is poised to maintain his streak of 2 or more bases in 8 of his last 11 games.

Matt Olson 2+ bases (+100)

Matt Olson is on a roll heading into the All-Star break, with 3 homers and a 12-for-27 record in his last seven games. Like Acuna Jr., Olson excels against fastballs, which is Bradley’s primary pitch. He has a 7 Run Value and a 69.1% hard-hit rate against 4-seam fastballs this season.

Given that Bradley is right-handed, Olson, with a 1.016 OPS against right-handed pitchers compared to a .699 OPS against lefties, stands a good chance of securing at least 2 bases. With the Braves playing as the away team, Olson is likely to get at least 4 at-bats, increasing the chances of this leg cashing.
