Cincinnati was arguably the talk of the first half, but it’s wise not to overlook Milwaukee. Sporting a 49-42 record, the Brewers won 10 of their last 15 pre-break games. They’re fielding Corbin Burnes, who, with his impressive 3.94 ERA and 7-5 record, bodes well for the guests.

Burnes has only conceded 4 runs across his two July games. Pitted against him is Graham Ashcraft of the Reds, with an alarming 6.28 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. Ashcraft’s encounter with the Brewers in June was disastrous, giving away 10 runs in just 4 innings. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Brewers capitalize on him once more.

Cleveland Guardians ML over Texas Rangers (+132)

Has the Rangers’ glory faded? After an initially fiery performance, they dipped towards the break with 11 losses in their last 16 matches. While Jon Gray can’t be blamed entirely for the slump, he’s not been backed up enough. The Rangers lost each of his last three starts and four out of five.

The Guardians, meanwhile, have triumphed in 6 out of their last 9 games, bringing them to .500 and leading the American League Central. Even with a middling record, Cleveland’s position will likely spur motivation for the second half. Aaron Civale, boasting a 2.56 ERA, will be pitching on Friday, adding value to the underdog Guardians.

Boston Red Sox vs Chicago Cubs Under 9.5 (-105)

The MLB showdown between the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs promises a captivating display of pitching prowess. The stage is set for Brayan Bello of the Red Sox and Cubs’ seasoned right-hander, Kyle Hendricks. Bello’s inaugural 14 starts for Boston showcased a commendable form, with a 3.04 ERA over 80 innings, and allowing just 2 or fewer runs in 11 of his past 12 games.

Facing the Cubs, currently ranked 22nd and 23rd in wOBA and SLG against right-handed sinkers, respectively, Bello is likely to excel.

On the other hand, Kyle Hendricks, having pitched only 53.2 innings in 9 starts, has significantly influenced the Cubs’ underestimated starting pitch this season. With a consistent barrel rate in the 74th percentile, a hard-hit rate in the 86th percentile, and a commendable BB% in the 94th percentile, Hendricks has been invaluable to the Cubs.

Despite a low strikeout rate and Boston’s efficiency against right-handed changeups, Hendricks is anticipated to put up a strong performance. With potential weather concerns and well-rested bullpens for both teams, even a delay would likely result in a lower-scoring game.
