MLB picks Sunday 6/25 – YRFI & NRFI best bets today: Trusting Eury Perez and Gerrit Cole to Dominate the First Inning!

The week’s Major League Baseball actions wrap up with an exciting full schedule of 15 games on Sunday. Two games are set to be broadcast on ESPN, beginning with the Cubs taking on the Cardinals in London at 10:10 am ET and concluding with the Astros battling the Dodgers on Sunday Night Baseball. Concurrently, the Mets will be at the Phillies while the Braves round off a significant series against the Reds. With a wide array of options, it’s a great opportunity to venture into YRFI/NRFI betting.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Miami Marlins: NRFI (-135)

Seeing Eury Perez on the mound for Miami certainly swings the momentum towards the under. Since making his big league debut in mid-May, Perez has been nothing short of impressive, boasting a record of 4-1 with an ERA of 1.54 and a WHIP of 1.00. He has struck out 45 batters and given up just 14 walks in 41 innings of work. Remarkably, Perez has kept the opposition off the scoreboard in 4 of his last 5 starts and has never given up a run in the first inning in his 8 career starts. Adding to his upper hand, the Pirates haven’t faced him yet.

The Pirates’ pitcher, Johan Oviedo, gives even more reason to support the NRFI in this matchup. Oviedo has been in fine form in his last 8 outings, lowering his ERA from 5.58 to 4.30, and has kept the opening inning scoreless in his last three starts. Jon Berti is the only Marlin who has registered more than a single hit against him, while none of the Miami lineup has ever scored more than a single run against him.

Texas Rangers vs New York Yankees: NRFI (-140)

After leveling this American League series at one game each with a 1-0 victory on Saturday, the Yankees are primed for a thrilling conclusion. The series finale features a stellar pitching duel between Nathan Eovaldi and Gerrit Cole. The first pitch is set for 1:35 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, NY.

With just seven runs scored in the first two games, this series has been a low-scoring affair. Given the quality of the pitchers in this matchup, it’s likely the trend will continue. NRFI has cashed in both games so far, and I’m willing to back it to happen again for a third consecutive time.

Cole has been in formidable form, delivering four consecutive quality starts this month. His ERA stands at 1.78 with a WHIP of 0.91 over 25.1 innings. His home performance has been stellar with a 2.60 ERA and opponents managing only a .195 batting average against him. Even facing the formidable Rangers’ offense, I believe Cole will stand his ground.

Eovaldi, on the other hand, has had a standout season. He has a 9-3 record with a 2.80 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. Eovaldi will be facing a Yankees offense that has been struggling without Aaron Judge. Over the past 14 days, New York ranks last in BABIP (.220) and 29th in wOBA (.257). Given these statistics, it’s likely Eovaldi will have a solid performance against the Yankees. I’m backing NRFI in this one.
