This marks the end of the so-called first half of the season, with the All-Star break set to commence on Monday. The day’s lineup kicks off with the standard Peacock game, featuring Texas and Washington at 12:05 pm ET. Other notable matches include Atlanta vs. Tampa Bay, Cubs vs. Yankees, and Philadelphia vs. Miami.

Betting on the YRFI/NRFI market has gained significant popularity in baseball wagering. They face a tough challenge against Chris Bassitt of the Blue Jays who is rebounding impressively, with two consecutive quality starts behind him. The right-hander has conceded only one first-inning run since June. The Tigers’ pitcher, Tarik Skubal, delivered a flawless debut this season against the A’s. However, he now meets the Toronto side, held scoreless on Saturday, and ranking 15th in the league for first-inning runs. Considering these elements, my pick is the NRFI bet.

Colorado Rockies vs San Francisco Giants: YRFI (-115)

The Rockies-Giants game on Saturday witnessed more first-inning runs (3) than the entire Blue Jays-Tigers match (2). With both Rockies and Giants scoring in yesterday’s first inning, I expect a similar pattern today. The Rockies will be up against Giants’ Logan Webb, who has been vulnerable to batters like Ryan McMahon and C.J. Cron. Webb has a recent history of first-inning runs, and interestingly, the Rockies average more runs in the first inning on the road than at home.

Facing the Rockies will be Kyle Freeland, whose past performances against the Giants have been lackluster. Giants’ batters like Austin Slater, Wilmer Flores, Mike Yastrzemski, and Joc Pederson have scored well against him. With Freeland’s 2023 ERA at 4.93 and even higher on the road, I’m favoring the YRFI bet in this series’ third consecutive game.
