Though Alcantara’s performance this season leaves much to be desired, he’s managed a clean first inning in four of his previous five games.

Minnesota Twins vs Atlanta Braves: NRFI (-104)

Wagering against the Atlanta lineup to score in the first innings is always a gamble, considering the threatening presence of Ronald Acuna Jr. However, Minnesota has the right-handed Joe Ryan on their side, who’s an accomplished player. Ryan’s record stands at 8-4, with a 2.98 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, 100 strikeouts, and just 15 walks across 93.2 innings. His recent shutout against Boston extended his NRFI streak to eight games.

Atlanta’s response is Bryce Elder, who has emerged as one of the most impressive and effective pitchers this season. Elder has a 5-1 record, with a 2.40 ERA, and 1.11 WHIP. He has allowed just a single run across his last 13.0 innings in two games. The 24-year-old boasts of an 11-game streak without conceding a run in the opening inning. In this inter-league game, unfamiliarity is at play again. No player from the Twins has ever faced Elder, and none from the Braves has managed a hit off Ryan.
