There is a triple header of NFL action this Thanksgiving Thursday and our nightcap is the New England Patriots taking on the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings come into this game after having their seven-game winning streak snapped in brutal fashion, as they took a 40-3 beat down from the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Even with the one-sided loss last game the Vikings are still 8-2 and comfortable in first in the NFC North.

For the Patriots, they are 6-4 and currently riding a three-game winning streak after beating the Jets in spectacular fashion last week with a punt return in the final seconds of the game. Even at 6-4 however, the Patriots are still third in the AFC East standings, but only one game behind the division leaders.

Minnesota comes into this game as -2.5 point favorites against Bill Belichick and the Patriots. While New England has their hall-of-fame coach on the sidelines, they’re still trying to figure out what they have in starting quarterback Mac Jones. The Patriots signal-caller has been inconsistent all season when he isn’t injured and will have a tough task facing the Vikings pass rush. We think Minnesota and the Vikings offense will have a bounce back game, so we’ll take Minnesota to win and cover the -2.5 point spread.

Tip Reasoning

Key Stat: New England is only allowing 16 points per game on defense

  • Minnesota is giving up 23 points per game on defense
  • The Vikings defense gives up 406 yards on defense per game
  • The Patriots are averaging 21 points per game on offense

The next line we’ll look at for the Patriots-Vikings game is the Over/Under of 42.5 points. The key to this line will be how the Patriots defense stacks up against this Minnesota offense. The Vikings do have the ability to put plenty of points on the board with Jefferson, Cook, and Cousins, but this New England defense is capable of slowing them down. On the other side of the ball, the Patriots have struggled offensively, but find ways to win games. The Vikings defense generally gives up a lot of yards, but can keep teams out of the endzone. We think this will be a lower scoring game than most imagine, so we’ll take Under 42.5 points for this game.
