Las Vegas Raiders 2022 Predictions
Key Stat: Las Vegas Raiders want to improve on 10-7 2021 Season
- Raiders made playoffs, but lost in Wild-Card round to Cincinnati
- Las Vegas signed the biggest free agent when wide receiver Davonte Adams signed with the team
- Jon Gruden was let go as head coach last season due to turmoil. Josh McDaniels is the new head coach of Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders had a drama-filled season last year, to say the least. Las Vegas had their head coach, Jon Gruden, resign in the middle of the season due to racist comments made about NFL executives; the team was able to rally and finish with a winning record and a rare playoff appearance, which they lost to the eventual AFC Super Bowl representative Cincinnati Bengals.
Then in the off-season, the Raiders made the biggest free-agent splash by signing former Packer wide receiver Davante Adams to a long-term deal, to team up with his old college teammate Derek Carr. Adams has been widely considered the best wide receiver in the league the last several years, so he will be an immediate boost to the passing game.
The Raiders should have one of the most dynamic offenses in the entire league. Derek Carr should be able to take his play to new heights with Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow at wide receiver, arguably the best tight end in football in Darren Waller, and Josh Jacobs as the power running back. The defense will be key to the Raider’s success this season. Las Vegas will score enough points, but can the defense hold up their end of the bargain? In possibly the toughest division in football, wins will be tough for every team in the AFC West. The Over/Under for the Raiders 2022 season is 8.5 wins. We can easily see three teams making the playoffs in this division, with the fourth being a very good team that misses the postseason. We will take the Over 8.5 wins for the Raiders, predicting a 10-7 season and another playoff appearance.
Key Stat: Derek Carr looks to improve on 2021 numbers
- Carr threw for 4,804 yards and 23 touchdowns
- Davante Adams had 123 receptions last year with the Packers
- Tight end Darren Waller had 55 receptions in only 11 games played
When looking at futures bets before any season, we like to look at bets that give you great value but still have a semi-realistic chance of happening. Derek Carr is a player that has great value futures bets all over the place for the upcoming season. Carr has proven he is a franchise quarterback with plenty of talent to put up gaudy numbers. Still, the sky is the limit now that the Raiders added the best wide receiver in pro football without losing any of their major receiving targets.
There is plenty of competition for this futures bet, but we are looking at the most passing touchdowns in the league. Carr realistically has the best wide receiver and tight end in the league to throw to this season. He is also gaining an offensive-minded head coach in Josh McDaniels to try and make the most of all their weapons. We expect the Raiders to be a pass-heavy team and have a lot of shootouts with their fellow AFC West division rivals over the course of the year. The futures odds are as high as +1600 for Carr throwing the most touchdown passes, so it’s a long shot, but one that we think is worth looking into.
