Prop Bets: Chargers vs Chiefs – Patrick Mahomes To Get Sacked

Prop Bets: Chargers vs Chiefs – Patrick Mahomes To Get Sacked

Key Stat: Khalil Mack had three sacks against Derek Carr in the last week’s win over the Raiders

Tip Reasoning

  • The Chargers forced Kansas City into two interceptions in their Week 3 clash last season
  • The key for their potential upset Arrowhead Stadium is to keep the pressure mounting on Patrick Mahomes
  • The Chargers’ defense, led by Mack and Bosa, has what it takes to slow down the Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers will raise the curtain on Week 2 in NFL as they are set to lock horns in a mouth-watering AFC West clash. Both teams got off to victorious starts to the season last week as the Chiefs looked somewhat more impressive in their drubbing of the Arizona Cardinals. Kansas City powered through the opening week of the season scoring as many as 44 points in a dominant showing against the Cardinals. The Chargers, on the other side, enjoyed a phenomenal first half of the clash against Las Vegas Raiders. The Bolts had a 17-3 lead before the break but almost ruined it all in the second half in what ended as a narrow 24-19 victory.

The Chiefs will be looking to replicate their stellar offensive showing this time around but the Bolts’ defensive line could cause them more problems than the Cards’ did. Patrick Mahomes completed 30 of 39 passes last week, throwing or five touchdowns and without a single interception. Nonetheless, he did have three interceptions in two meetings with the Chargers last season, including two in their Week 3 tie early in the season. The Chargers did an excellent job defensively on the Raiders last week, securing six sacks. They forced Derek Carr into three interceptions last week as Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa combined for five sacks on the occasion. You can back Mack to record a sack at the attractive +150 odds here.

Tip Reasoning

Key Stat: The Chargers conceded only three points in the first half of the opening day’s win over the Raiders

  • Their defensive line could cause problems for Patrick Mahomes
  • The Under/Over line is set too high even for the Chiefs’ standards
  • We expect Mahomes to struggle early on in this affair

The Over/Under line started at 54 points but the early wagers mainly went for the Overs as it is getting closer to 55 before the kickoff on Thursday. Indeed, both the Chiefs and the Chargers have impressive offensive lines but we find this number a bit too high even for their standards. The Bolts will rely heavily on their defense tonight and if they manage to repeat the performance from the first half against the Raiders last week, anything is possible here. We will remind you that the LA side allowed only three points in the first half of the opening day’s affair. We expect another strong start to the match for them and we find the value in backing the Under 10.5 points in the first quarter at the -128 odds.
