History Of Sports Betting in Wyoming

Sports betting has been live since Gov Mark Gordon signed HB133 into law. Despite that, sportsbooks have only gone live since September 1st, with both BetMGM and DraftKings, who launched their operations in the Cowboy state in October. FanDuel also launched in the Cowboy state since, on March 10th. Although the law allows for both online and retail sportsbooks in the state, there are only online sportsbooks available, as no retail sportsbooks are currently operating. However, the expectation is to see retail sports betting launch in the state pretty soon.

DraftKings

DraftKings is one of the best operators for fantasy sports betting, but they also have a solid sports betting product with lots of great features, plenty of betting markets, and wager types.

BetMGM

If you are looking for a top sportsbook, you won’t find anything much better than BetMGM. This operator does excel in lots of areas, in particular, they have a great range of sports and futures markets, in addition to providing an extensive in-play section and regular promotions.

FanDuel

FanDuel is the last sportsbook to enter the Cowboy state, with bettors from WY that can now enjoy the vast range of sports markets and promotions available with this operator. In addition, you can also enjoy their Daily Fantasy Sports site, making it an excellent option for those who are keen to find a reliable Wyoming site to wager with.

Wyoming Retail Sportbooks

Wyoming doesn’t currently have retail sportsbooks available despite having a solid online sports betting offering. However, this is likely to change soon.

Potential New Entrants In Wyoming Sports Betting Market

The Wyoming Gaming Commission is looking to expand the state’s sports betting market by the end of this year, with more licenses likely handed out soon. Sites like Barstool and PointsBet are planning to launch in the state in the upcoming months, with sports betting that looks on a growing trajectory in the Cowboy’s state. FanDuel has been the last sports betting site to launch in WY, and it won’t be surprising to see a few more added to the list.

Wyoming Sports Betting History

Sports betting has been illegal in Wyoming until recently, with the online sports betting bill that failed in the House of Representatives at the beginning of 2020. However, after a period of planning and consultations, in March 2021 things started to finally move positively for sports betting in Wyoming, as the senate voted in favor of a bill to allow sports betting in the Cowboy state. Gov. Mark Gordon signed this just a few weeks later in April. On the back of this, WGC has established rules to acquire the license to operate sports betting in the state. DraftKings and BetMGM met these requirements and were allowed to launch on September 1st, followed by FanDuel, who made the debut here on March 10th 2022.

Wyoming Sports Teams to wager on

Currently, Wyoming doesn’t have any major professional teams for fans to wager on, but several college teams attract local attention.

Wyoming Cowboys

The Cowboys have secured several Bowls during their history, but Wyoming are still looking to get NCAA glory even if it was founded way back in 1893. It is possible to wager on them on their regular-season matches and place futures bets on their seasonal performance.
